Frequently Asked Questions
LN Watches creates watches and handcrafted Apple Watch straps that honour South African heritage while fitting seamlessly into a contemporary wardrobe. Below you will find clear answers to the questions we are asked most often.
THE STRAPS
Will this fit my Apple Watch?
Yes. We offer two sizes. Small fits 38mm, 40mm, 41mm and 42mm Apple Watch models (Series 1–10, SE). Large fits 44mm, 45mm, 46mm and 49mm Apple Watch models (Series 4–10, SE, Ultra 1 & 2). If you are unsure, email info@lnwatches.co.za and we will confirm the correct size for you.
How many beads are in each strap?
Each LN strap contains over 1,000 hand-placed Zulu glass beads. Every bead is individually selected and threaded by our artisans to create a piece that is both precise in construction and rich in cultural meaning.
Is the beadwork durable?
Yes. The beads are strung on a durable elastic thread and carefully reinforced for strength. With normal, respectful wear, your strap is designed to last for years. As with any finely crafted beaded piece, we recommend avoiding rough abrasion and prolonged submersion in water to preserve the integrity of the work.
Is it water resistant?
The strap is splash-resistant and suitable for everyday life, but it is not designed for swimming, showering or extended exposure to water. For the longevity of both the beads and the elastic, we recommend removing your strap before water activities.
How do I attach it to my Apple Watch?
Each strap uses the standard Apple Watch quick-release mechanism. It slides into place in seconds and clicks securely into your watch case—no tools required. The hardware is fully compatible with all Apple Watch models in the size range you select.
Can I order a custom colour or pattern?
Yes. We welcome custom orders. Email info@lnwatches.co.za with your colour preferences, and we will guide you through the traditional Zulu ucu colour meanings to create a strap that carries a personal message on your wrist.

THE BRAND
Where are the straps made?
Each strap is handcrafted in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, in the communities of Groutville and KwaNyuswa. Our straps are created by skilled women artisans who have practised Zulu beadwork for most of their lives, bringing generations of knowledge to every piece.
What is ucu?
Ucu is the Zulu tradition of beaded love letters, where every colour carries a message. In this language of beads, white often speaks of purity, blue of faithfulness, pink of promise, green of hope, yellow of wealth and red of love. Every LN strap continues this tradition so that what you wear on your wrist is both a timepiece and a story of identity.

Today the brand stands as a proudly South African expression of luxury rooted in identity. Read the full story at our Story page.
